It was funded by a promise of art, and the pieces I did there are below.<br />

Some were done for contests, others, for the hell of it. Enjoy... or else!<br />

I'm totally bummed that I didn't even place with this piece. It was also for a contest on Deviant art where you had to use a panda, a light and a pie to convey "Plans Gone Wrong. " This is called "The Chaperone" and I spent a really long time drawing all of those lines. I hope it helps you!<br />
<br />
Please read this whole thing before starting, or at least read the extra information at the bottom to keep you on track. All pictures can be made full sized by clicking on them to see details. OH, and SAVE EARLY AND OFTEN!<br />
<br />
On to the tutorial:<br />
<br />
First things first, if you do not already have a copy of Adobe Flash Professional CS5, go download a trial from their website and get it started. Google can help you if you are not sure where to go.<br />
<br />
Now that you have the program open, choose the option “Create New Action Script 3.0”<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz8Ec5Y4kGTBiPG9Gzvg6lAk4rrq3xhJrA5JBJ7Qf1RWT0W5MXG-Urqhr5ZETZwjSyeiJgOZsmOole-Cop9slVRN94xZv3VZJLRz0YEyJWPMHbXhq-MsPGYY7dctw9udVBiEPPbenhViQ/s1600/actionscript3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz8Ec5Y4kGTBiPG9Gzvg6lAk4rrq3xhJrA5JBJ7Qf1RWT0W5MXG-Urqhr5ZETZwjSyeiJgOZsmOole-Cop9slVRN94xZv3VZJLRz0YEyJWPMHbXhq-MsPGYY7dctw9udVBiEPPbenhViQ/s640/actionscript3.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
At the top right, by the search box, make sure you are on the “DESIGNER” layout as that is how I am working in this tutorial and it will make it so that you are able to find elements more easily, (and I have found it to be the easiest layout for this application).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYRhqoX2YT62tL3usofiwyYwCRFLDru4kyeBl1GuI4lO_drfSPxKZ6Rk8lPe6uC60uP8D22K-3EGxH-Ky94vyP5dOiApbG3i1dVTzMOU1FiKK923ZDO4jC0gZqqaQxnp3TdDlxnpRU3as/s1600/layout.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYRhqoX2YT62tL3usofiwyYwCRFLDru4kyeBl1GuI4lO_drfSPxKZ6Rk8lPe6uC60uP8D22K-3EGxH-Ky94vyP5dOiApbG3i1dVTzMOU1FiKK923ZDO4jC0gZqqaQxnp3TdDlxnpRU3as/s640/layout.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<u>Step One</u><br />
The first thing to do is to get your background ready. Adjust the size and color of your background on the bottom left panel. If you are putting your Dress Up game in a blog, like Blogger, you should make it no more than 650 wide, or about 50 pixels smaller than the maximum width of your post.<br />
I’m making mine 650 x 900.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqxGKox1hl2HsKFRyROBOFe3geyXUPwJTARAdooFmEBwWiZNJ7za-snS7pgaDvnC3L8zOTNCI3Drk6F8l7Ol4mg5tslEKWviVF_xK2StdeuEFUnBdDNH3osBt0cpybG3WDXfb-EdYN10k/s1600/change+size+and+color.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqxGKox1hl2HsKFRyROBOFe3geyXUPwJTARAdooFmEBwWiZNJ7za-snS7pgaDvnC3L8zOTNCI3Drk6F8l7Ol4mg5tslEKWviVF_xK2StdeuEFUnBdDNH3osBt0cpybG3WDXfb-EdYN10k/s640/change+size+and+color.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<u>Step Two</u><br />
In the same dialog window, you can choose your background color. I suggest making it something other than white, to make sure that none of your dress up pieces end up accidentally transparent.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<u>Step Three</u><br />
In the top panel labeled “TIMELINE” you will see that there is a line called “layer 1” This is your background, and you can rename it background if you like. You don’t have to, but I am doing it for teaching purposes. <br />
Now to draw your figure on the background for your game. <br />
If you choose to, you can upload a background image by going to FILE > IMPORT > Import into Stage (or control-R). It is best to have a PNG file with an invisible background for this purpose.<br />
Otherwise, use the drawing tools in the top left tool box to draw your figure.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpFlI_vlfrY5XlFAyjn_p2WKaStEYM1VFyKv0tm2gepVPBIMM682Ff2VmK3yIUfUNcQRp6Mo-vCZ9fLUoYiVcbqO_X-QqrKGEheJR7s_R6BMUQ4qijcAcvP3rBVVTKAtunHYBvfPq6veg/s1600/import+to+stage.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpFlI_vlfrY5XlFAyjn_p2WKaStEYM1VFyKv0tm2gepVPBIMM682Ff2VmK3yIUfUNcQRp6Mo-vCZ9fLUoYiVcbqO_X-QqrKGEheJR7s_R6BMUQ4qijcAcvP3rBVVTKAtunHYBvfPq6veg/s640/import+to+stage.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Use the arrow tool to place the figure where you want it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN9Bezc_pYzPoNGhSSaFah1_KD8gnajZ4PTQeJNaPbKaBGGoa5HhhFe37_FdqmTR8GqHW-NZILDqr7wbJZwAz7bN1ni8_lf0CRFySjRm8JWoBggvJPsb73xeNVwQswhyQ0-pRLQQdQoVY/s1600/imported.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN9Bezc_pYzPoNGhSSaFah1_KD8gnajZ4PTQeJNaPbKaBGGoa5HhhFe37_FdqmTR8GqHW-NZILDqr7wbJZwAz7bN1ni8_lf0CRFySjRm8JWoBggvJPsb73xeNVwQswhyQ0-pRLQQdQoVY/s640/imported.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<u>Step Four</u><br />
Place a title for your dress up and sign it somewhere.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRnTLXuMiNRLqH09MySupJH8n7RrDAFvj8BQXJoFxN-uRLPUvRHKRtDvvCZXWif0ZuwfagQxIFSbhQKlWQImHQ2r5_H-PuBvM8_sMuAfPRCLQWPXfueGtlIkSLUJkK9JEXk8w5q_z_d1Q/s1600/title.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRnTLXuMiNRLqH09MySupJH8n7RrDAFvj8BQXJoFxN-uRLPUvRHKRtDvvCZXWif0ZuwfagQxIFSbhQKlWQImHQ2r5_H-PuBvM8_sMuAfPRCLQWPXfueGtlIkSLUJkK9JEXk8w5q_z_d1Q/s640/title.png" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Just drew the banner with the drawing tools.</div><br />
<br />
<u>Step Five</u><br />
Add an html link to your site using text tool. (I added http://fattieart.blogspot.com to the bottom of mine)<br />
With it selected, right click and "convert to a symbol" - choose "movie clip" and press enter.<br />
Right click and choose "Actions". Drag and drop it into the TIMELINE window to dock it for future use.<br />
Open the “CODE SNIPPETS” on the top right and dock it to the left side of the layout, by dragging and dropping, like in the layout picture above.<br />
Choose ACTIONS in the Code snippets window, to open the drop down menu.<br />
Choose “CLICK TO GO TO WEBPAGE” by double clicking, to add the code to the actions frame (top center)<br />
Then, go to the code and replace the html address with the address of your website.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDv30zN8oytkAlvHXfNC94UNSOKDRfmhgNRdK-EKigSTY7_5p6X6uHDfQTBNuUn8yJFlrxBZzBPSMKtYmak_j6zEYYLbRiiTjOP-JUMxFRefRotHpmpfrg7X1beqcCqZyWCvX8hIwAIE0/s1600/change+html+address.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDv30zN8oytkAlvHXfNC94UNSOKDRfmhgNRdK-EKigSTY7_5p6X6uHDfQTBNuUn8yJFlrxBZzBPSMKtYmak_j6zEYYLbRiiTjOP-JUMxFRefRotHpmpfrg7X1beqcCqZyWCvX8hIwAIE0/s640/change+html+address.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Then switch back to timeline from the action frame.<br />
Notice that ACTIONS has been added and is now highlighted.<br />
Switch it back to Layer 1- Background. It is important to make sure you are always working in the right layer to avoid having to redo things.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Step Five point Five<br />
If you want to, you can now draw in more details in the background, or you can move on to creating dress-up pieces.<br />
<br />
Step Six<br />
When you are done sprucing up the background (if you wanted to) you can now add the clothing layer. Click the NEW LAYER button on the bottom of the Timeline window.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ-nWBOYitgLm6Na3N38mZIKJGcYCK-VyE-r1YIIJAfmmDnJjCDkziF2kYvevxAjOVcF6ZGaZe9CXlZuxigpVJD2uikYetDY5YUodpJi-sWKQTAKla_QFM0YxEehhIa3mIKbiMrkRwuYU/s1600/new+layer.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ-nWBOYitgLm6Na3N38mZIKJGcYCK-VyE-r1YIIJAfmmDnJjCDkziF2kYvevxAjOVcF6ZGaZe9CXlZuxigpVJD2uikYetDY5YUodpJi-sWKQTAKla_QFM0YxEehhIa3mIKbiMrkRwuYU/s640/new+layer.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Drag it below the actions layer and rename it clothes (if you need a reminder).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb0rNUBftZBkvHJU2vZyAk4CU0hWgncMnUlX4364q2dO8zujJDMZeKBG5qMbpa_vsQNzuOUEimkA7iORGWvb9RKsJ42Clr89RFYL_KGHzhbZYCr50FpByn6VSyqR50tMnUGopgxtHijQc/s1600/clothes+layer.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb0rNUBftZBkvHJU2vZyAk4CU0hWgncMnUlX4364q2dO8zujJDMZeKBG5qMbpa_vsQNzuOUEimkA7iORGWvb9RKsJ42Clr89RFYL_KGHzhbZYCr50FpByn6VSyqR50tMnUGopgxtHijQc/s640/clothes+layer.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Step Seven<br />
Make sure that the clothing layer is highlighted (meaning it is the active layer) and begin drawing your first fashion piece directly over your background figure. <br />
Be sure to try all the settings on the drawing tools, exploring to make the best of what you are given.<br />
<br />
*If you want, you can draw your pieces in an art program and save them as PNG files with transparent backgrounds instead of drawing each piece of clothing in Flash. Simply import them into the clothing layer as instructed in step three.<br />
<br />
Step Eight<br />
Once your first outfit is done, go up to the timeline and turn off the background (this will keep you from accidentally highlighting it, which causes a buttload of frustration).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnwapZ61N1MLvHfL8QLcgCMk-DdAugwbL5yo7BYQn8nV6OS4Ka3DtXLqeGX4BZt2O3rFBzBLhMELupkYUUW_qMsLdcDMsC_FoiIhBxWENNE6ThiZNITlg3qk9zp2lL7y198oJHQe2t8FI/s1600/select+outfit.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnwapZ61N1MLvHfL8QLcgCMk-DdAugwbL5yo7BYQn8nV6OS4Ka3DtXLqeGX4BZt2O3rFBzBLhMELupkYUUW_qMsLdcDMsC_FoiIhBxWENNE6ThiZNITlg3qk9zp2lL7y198oJHQe2t8FI/s640/select+outfit.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Step Nine<br />
Using the bounding box, select the entire outfit (but only the outfit-- once you get more outfits, you may need to use the lasso instead of the bounding box to avoid highlighting other objects in the layer.<br />
<br />
Step Ten<br />
With the entire outfit highlighted, go up to MODIFY and combine all the lines in the outfit using UNION. If you don’t do this, you may leave lines behind when you need to move the object in the next step. It really makes life easier.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1NKtbkuwIcNIFiCNV52xiyMgz8GLgDHEjoeV4NPXTtp4I9w2uM9Ye2gIEuMgieAzDV78mJQOSmlLv34i8gBHKK1p1MnKIIx1ilmTqGvMOI3LOXeVQ2PvHVFIcUCoizDaKBrBm3gwmELA/s1600/union.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1NKtbkuwIcNIFiCNV52xiyMgz8GLgDHEjoeV4NPXTtp4I9w2uM9Ye2gIEuMgieAzDV78mJQOSmlLv34i8gBHKK1p1MnKIIx1ilmTqGvMOI3LOXeVQ2PvHVFIcUCoizDaKBrBm3gwmELA/s640/union.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Step Eleven<br />
Once you have the object combined, go back to MODIFY and choose CONVERT TO SYMBOL. Choose Movie Clip (it should already be that if you added the link to the background) and give the object a descriptive name (so you can find it later if need be).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4nq7TER0jnJXIZxwe5ODx1hAUCDsmosL767yVKPUs8ilpHfPkN8HULojoClzrUBcMhGIsi7BG8-9nv58Ft3dww-YKvRJ-ERoEwX2p6vbU2MP2lpm0ijV6TEfH-n-iY3U82EtoVFUXDnU/s1600/convert+to+symbol1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4nq7TER0jnJXIZxwe5ODx1hAUCDsmosL767yVKPUs8ilpHfPkN8HULojoClzrUBcMhGIsi7BG8-9nv58Ft3dww-YKvRJ-ERoEwX2p6vbU2MP2lpm0ijV6TEfH-n-iY3U82EtoVFUXDnU/s640/convert+to+symbol1.png" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4nq7TER0jnJXIZxwe5ODx1hAUCDsmosL767yVKPUs8ilpHfPkN8HULojoClzrUBcMhGIsi7BG8-9nv58Ft3dww-YKvRJ-ERoEwX2p6vbU2MP2lpm0ijV6TEfH-n-iY3U82EtoVFUXDnU/s1600/convert+to+symbol1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQYBdlkKGY5DrgNX2pF0yEmDzAZGHc0l_49H8N_eceTVTJ241NtZa_4RK30OuDGdK6SIoahyphenhyphen0graNOHQS94YnVW5lZYm5YRMkuJjH1klt9kAcwMkcDPyi4ColjUOUzn48P8Vot6j6uxu8/s1600/convert+to+symbol.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQYBdlkKGY5DrgNX2pF0yEmDzAZGHc0l_49H8N_eceTVTJ241NtZa_4RK30OuDGdK6SIoahyphenhyphen0graNOHQS94YnVW5lZYm5YRMkuJjH1klt9kAcwMkcDPyi4ColjUOUzn48P8Vot6j6uxu8/s640/convert+to+symbol.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Step Twelve<br />
Now it is time to program this sucker. Go to the code snipped window (that you opened and docked when you added your link) and choose ACTIONS > Drag and Drop. You can either double click or right click and ADD ACTION TO FRAME to code the action to the object (your outfit).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyN-vgKoOdcVuYQIAPqv5PTm9AtotigN4u42bjFESDzv2lMYlAqqYRbDeP7uO-N0ZLahuTw1x9ryU9tZJBm_IiEihDjvtsKensUmNpCgejpfJ-gokZaGoRwQclPftNdTmFPa2dJNJv0nI/s1600/coding.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyN-vgKoOdcVuYQIAPqv5PTm9AtotigN4u42bjFESDzv2lMYlAqqYRbDeP7uO-N0ZLahuTw1x9ryU9tZJBm_IiEihDjvtsKensUmNpCgejpfJ-gokZaGoRwQclPftNdTmFPa2dJNJv0nI/s640/coding.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Step Thirteen<br />
Now, go to FILE > PUBLISH PREVIEW to see if it drags and drops like it should. While you are in the preview, check the link to make sure it works too!<br />
<br />
*You may not be able to see your entire game, and that doesn't mean it is broken, per se, I just means it is too long for your screen and the preview doesn't have a scrolling option. You can check when you finish to see if it works in the SWF file before actually publishing it.<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, repeat steps 7-13 until all of your outfits, accessories, and other additions are drawn, combined and coded.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Step Fourteen<br />
The final thing to do is to arrange your pieces. That means, some things should go in front (like jewelry or jackets) and something go behind (like shoes, jeans, etc.). Select each outfit and make use MODIFY > ARRANGE and move items forward and backwards as needed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmZCAiMZ2w-vDjWYIWfB6Q_9OotukNvhZTriR9tlPSf99ClnDC8UyDZ9gz_qY_huLCHuicGMwdWqjWxKvrMQlXF210xdYQf4o3157cpKdBbYXEsGghGt1MM1rF5as0qsDe73berqG_w_I/s1600/arrange+pieces.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmZCAiMZ2w-vDjWYIWfB6Q_9OotukNvhZTriR9tlPSf99ClnDC8UyDZ9gz_qY_huLCHuicGMwdWqjWxKvrMQlXF210xdYQf4o3157cpKdBbYXEsGghGt1MM1rF5as0qsDe73berqG_w_I/s640/arrange+pieces.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Step Sixteen<br />
Once you are done, save your work (hell, save your work all along, please). Give it a descriptive name. Then go to FILE and choose PUBLISH. This will generate the SWF file that you will be able to use to upload to a private website to insert on your blog or webpage.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipb9kGr3NZ24hHCUOJGGdgNlhJxIUA7lQSOtJzXu6bUvnRXUQx-R-ITSXMOLqX5xzFrAvIEthD2-fyD-YVAPlVV1zIEED1uSoW9lXEzIfz9Jnx87H5pP7HUpmYe2qoEG0qFIbMRHZhPSA/s1600/save.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipb9kGr3NZ24hHCUOJGGdgNlhJxIUA7lQSOtJzXu6bUvnRXUQx-R-ITSXMOLqX5xzFrAvIEthD2-fyD-YVAPlVV1zIEED1uSoW9lXEzIfz9Jnx87H5pP7HUpmYe2qoEG0qFIbMRHZhPSA/s640/save.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
-Extra info you may want or need-<br />
<br />
<ul><li>If you choose to draw your background instead of importing it, simply draw your background on the first layer and use MODIFY > Combine >Union to combine the image to make moving it as one image easier.</li>
</ul><div><br />
</div><ul><li>If you want to, you can code all the objects when you are done drawing them all, instead of doing them immediately after drawing. It is still best to combine the objects and make them symbols before moving them, however, or they can get weird when trying to use the pointer arrow to move things.</li>
</ul><div><br />
</div><ul><li>IF by any chance there is a problem with your coding, check your COMPILING ERRORS tab in the TIMELINE window and it will tell you where to start looking for the problem. Read what it says, it is telling you what to fix. Remember it tells you where to START looking. You have to deal with entire code snippets (starting with a { and ending with a }) not just one line or your code will remain broken.</li>
</ul><div><br />
</div><ul><li>If it is REALLY broken, you can always delete all the code and start over, selecting each object separately once again and using STEP TWELVE.</li>
</ul><br />
<br />
<br />
Things to remember:<br />
ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON THE CORRECT LEVEL.<br />
<br />
TURN OFF THE BACKGROUND TO MAKE SELECTING EASIER.<br />
<br />
MAKE SURE YOU ONLY PROGRAM EACH OBJECT ONCE… if you do it more than once, it will break your code.<br />
<br />
GIVE EACH OBJECT A UNIQUE NAME. If you have the same name twice, it will break your code.<br />
<br />

I guess it could be considered a wedding gift, too!<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I was given a general style to work from and I quite like the way it came out. As of late, I have actually been looking at the contests that are offered there.<br />
Most recently there is <a href="http://news.deviantart.com/article/128272/">this contest</a> that I will be entering sponsored by Eve Online.<br />
I entered a contest last month for Resident Evil (which can be viewed <a href="http://jodee.deviantart.com/?loggedin=1#/d2wkorl">here</a> - though I must warn it is a bit gory). Seems I didn't win, but these are great practice for me to do things that are not my normal subjects.<br />
Always great to widen one's horizons... and put yourself in the running for prizes. ;)JRosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01696678149874762427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2430123928584949350.post-86931636365375276602010-08-29T17:21:00.000-06:002010-08-29T17:21:15.086-06:00SejaThe beautiful and wonderful injunmuffin. This picture stunned me with its softness and sweetness when I saw it and so I decided I had to paint it- in part because it is her boyfriend's birthday, and in part because she has been really emotionally supportive of me and I appreciate the heck outta her. I give you:<br />

This time, I am smitten with Aarti. I not only want to learn to cook more Indian cuisine, but OMG, how cute is she!? And so, since I broke the seal with my painting yesterday, I continue on this burst of creativity with a portrait of Ms. Paarti-pants:<br />

This time, as I was getting ready to drive back to Montana, there was a problem with my bank account (namely my loving love spending more money than should have been spent) and it took a big chunk out of my gas money for coming home.<br />
My friend, Vez, going above and beyond, sent me gas money (and enough for a tasty lunch). I told her I couldn't pay her back any time soon, and was met with "paint me a pretty picture." So this is what I painted for my beautiful knight in shining armor:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdXqAtGtEoP5FRr05XJ201clFR7OzwyP3PxJhqaL_FotNcCFshUe4Pgj9hcbz1fqsMS9sg-rd3mifKtCL3aB1VTOV0xE66vuqkqqAwsiEkD0SOsVKPVYYy6uUF7nqOiU1PTy4vKb6Jzw0/s1600/outtagas_002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdXqAtGtEoP5FRr05XJ201clFR7OzwyP3PxJhqaL_FotNcCFshUe4Pgj9hcbz1fqsMS9sg-rd3mifKtCL3aB1VTOV0xE66vuqkqqAwsiEkD0SOsVKPVYYy6uUF7nqOiU1PTy4vKb6Jzw0/s400/outtagas_002.JPG" width="282" /></a></div><br />

This is a gift for my friend (and muse) Muffin Von Chub.<br />
Her bunny is sick and she was talking about her eventual departure to the "great garden in the sky."<br />
It was so sweet that I really wanted to paint it as best I could. The style is fairly different than my normal style but I was trying for more illustrative, like a Golden Book. I had to wrestle my program a bit to get where I did but I wish to try a few more paintings this way because I like the general idea.JRosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01696678149874762427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2430123928584949350.post-27926319251517347742010-05-05T20:12:00.000-06:002010-05-05T20:12:43.041-06:00We don't need no stinkin' badges!It's <span class="goog-spellcheck-word">Cinco</span> <span class="goog-spellcheck-word">de</span> Mayo. I am aware of that. I am pretty good at recognizing holidays.<br />
So last night, as I was going to sleep after reading Stephen King's Dark Tower - The Gunslinger, it occurred to me that I should do a "black velvet painting" to honor <span class="goog-spellcheck-word">Cinco</span> <span class="goog-spellcheck-word">de</span> Mayo and that it should be a gun slinging kinda of pinup. And then, I shouted, as I often do, thanks to the movie UHF, "WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' BADGERS!" which startled my husband who was trying to sleep, and I was reminded of the movie "Treasure of Sierra <span class="goog-spellcheck-word">Madre</span>" and then I pictured something close to this painting in my mind. I must also say that I was inspired by the black velvet world in the X-BOX video game, "<span class="goog-spellcheck-word">Psychonauts</span>" (which is an AWESOME game, all the way, but the end stage is freaking impossible. Like totally.. =[ ).<br />
<br />
So here it is, STINKIN' BADGES!:<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Look at it big, her face looks wonky all small like.</div>JRosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01696678149874762427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2430123928584949350.post-764887443077716462010-04-29T17:49:00.000-06:002010-04-29T17:49:17.870-06:00Gift Art - Hyperbole and a HalfA friend introduced me to <a href="http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/">Hyperbole and a Half</a> last week. I was having a really bad day and spent the rest of the day (and several of the next days) reading the entire blog and laughing uproariously. Check it out if you haven't already and you like to laugh. If you don't like to laugh, what is wrong with you?<br />
<br />
Anywho, the whole way through, I was thinking <strike>I need to be her best friend!!!! </strike>I want to thank her for keeping my loved ones safe from me by distracting me and making me laugh when I just wanted to be a giant stomping destroying monster of some sort. So I painted this for her this afternoon. I think it does a good job of displaying my gratitude (and it gave me a good reason to stare at a photo of Brett Favre):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRyTU7386BP_MFK8PTKFbghEte8rjoJmBezxlSYxc2FhaXVj7fKQ342vQdAB4iSO6ZieQZCKDkCJk1HOAROan9RsuENUqjFW-8zbJngN74SEgE3RtS5HfZIBIPhjcxleho-tVX0xeTwGQ/s1600/bretfavreforallie.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRyTU7386BP_MFK8PTKFbghEte8rjoJmBezxlSYxc2FhaXVj7fKQ342vQdAB4iSO6ZieQZCKDkCJk1HOAROan9RsuENUqjFW-8zbJngN74SEgE3RtS5HfZIBIPhjcxleho-tVX0xeTwGQ/s320/bretfavreforallie.JPG" tt="true" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Again, this was painted like the last piece, there was no sketching of the face first, just jumped right in with patches of color. I like to imagine people can tell the difference. Pieces where I sketch the face first are usually painted much smoother than this, my signature style.</div>JRosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01696678149874762427noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2430123928584949350.post-1120044216823901902010-04-29T12:15:00.002-06:002010-04-29T12:18:32.772-06:00On BreakSo I finished up about 21 of the pieces for the art gig that I am doing. More are supposed to be coming in June. <br />
I have come to realize that my favorite way of paintings is kinda monochrome and expressionist. I have done quite a few pieces this way, but while working on this project, I was tasked with the following portrait and man, I loved it. It just emerged out of me. Instead of sketching out the face first, I just started with blotches of color and built them up until the image was created. I feel like an "actual artist" when I work this way, whatever that means. I'm just creating and not thinking about it... and more often than not, it works out, really well. So I give you the pre-production version of the portrait which now belongs to Disruptor Beam, LLC:<br />

I have finished the first <strike>5 portraits in the past three days. Only 25 more to go. ;)</strike><br />
<br />
Here they are:<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I had the wrong dimensions on the first one, and I thought to double check but alas, I didn't. *sigh* Thankfully, they were able to stretch it to fit. <strike>Anywho, these are them. Five tiny paintings. I did them at about 4 times this size and then shrunk them down to the required size. James gave me the most trouble. I had to employ the help of my friend, Beth, who is also an artist, to tell me what I was getting wrong because I was too close to it to see it. She helped a whole lot!</strike></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Well shucks, it turns out I was on the very wrong track. I've taken down the pictures and shall go back to work and try to get it right this time. =)</div>JRosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01696678149874762427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2430123928584949350.post-19140439428160298982010-03-05T15:25:00.000-07:002010-03-05T15:25:34.755-07:00Migraine ArtI was trying to describe to my friends what my migraine aura looks like (I rarely get them but have gotten two in the past three days) and I thought it might just be easier to paint it. It is a quick sketch, but this is what I see when I close my eyes when I have an aura. Of course, it moves and swims, so I can never look at it directly, but I always think of it as an Aboriginal lizard. Of course again, it is made of light so imagine this flashing and every triangle cycling a flash between the white, yellow, pink, and blue... there is clear in there too, with white outlines. When my eyes are open, the lizard flashes and swims and blocks out whatever I am looking at.<br />
