Art Dump- NYC

So, I went to NYC in October for my first art show there, which happened to by in the Coco MoCA gallery (that would be the Museum of Conan (O'Brien) Art).  It was funded by a promise of art, and the pieces I did there are below.

It took me a total of 25 hours to do these. I would like to spend the rest of my life in big cities doing this kind of art. Not necessarily silly art, but architectural art, as that is my true artistic background.

Art Dump!

I've done a bunch of non-blarg related pieces lately, but I guess I haven't been particularly good at posting them. Some were done for contests, others, for the hell of it. Enjoy... or else!

I had had takoyaki with my dinner, the night I drew this.  Tako is Japanese for octopus.

This was created for a contest on Deviant Art where you had to use their squiggles to make a picture.  I like drawing narwhals, and zombies, so this happened.

I'm totally bummed that I didn't even place with this piece. It was also for a contest on Deviant art where you had to use a panda, a light and a pie to convey "Plans Gone Wrong. "  This is called "The Chaperone" and I spent a really long time drawing all of those lines. A really long time.

JRose Dress-Up

How to make a Drag and Drop Dress Up Game using Adobe Flash CS5

I made this step-by-step tutorial to make a drag and drop game in Adobe Flash Pro CS5 because I have not been able to find one online.  I hope it helps you!

Please read this whole thing before starting, or at least read the extra information at the bottom to keep you on track.  All pictures can be made full sized by clicking on them to see details. OH, and SAVE EARLY AND OFTEN!

On to the tutorial:

First things first, if you do not already have a copy of Adobe Flash Professional CS5, go download a trial from their website and get it started. Google can help you if you are not sure where to go.

Now that you have the program open, choose the option  “Create New Action Script 3.0”

At the top right, by the search box, make sure you are on the “DESIGNER” layout as that is how I am working in this tutorial and it will make it so that you are able to find elements more easily, (and I have found it to be the easiest  layout for this application).

Step One
The first thing to do is to get your background ready.  Adjust the size and color of your background on the bottom left panel.  If you are putting your Dress Up game in a blog, like Blogger, you should make it no more than 650 wide, or about 50 pixels smaller than the maximum width of your post.
I’m making mine 650 x 900.

Step Two
In the same dialog window, you can choose your background color.  I suggest making it something other than white, to make sure that none of your dress up pieces end up accidentally transparent.

Amanda Palmer

I was just listening to "Vegemite" and laughing and thought I should most certainly paint the lovely Ms. Amanda Palmer.  I guess it could be considered a wedding gift, too!

I'm fairly pleased with it. 

Dragon Commission

Here is a cute piece that I did as a commission for a new facebook friend.

I was given a general style to work from and I quite like the way it came out.  I used Painter 11 to paint it, and created a custom pattern to make the scales on his body.  I am particularly fond of his flames, as I've had issues with flames looking weird in the past. 

Enjoy... and remember, I am available for commission and am happy to paint anything other than (human) babies or bicycles. =D

I can do non-commercial work for $1 a minute with a 20 minute minimum. 

Nadia G.

If you have access to the Cooking Channel, I highly recommend the show Bitchin' Kitchen.  So much so that I painted the hostess, Nadia G.
It is a very funny show, she is way hot, and she makes fantastic looking food... and she is way hot.

DOUBLE BLOGS, ALL THE WAY!

Just letting you know that I started a second blog for being funny. Not that I plan on being unfunny other places now, but this new one is specifically for funny, and it has arts as well.

I'd like cheese on my entire family!

So far, it has absolutely nothing to do with either my family or cheese, but it wasn't going to anyway.

Fashion Design- Finals

Fashion Design

There is a contest for Halloween and fall fashions of one of my favorite games on Facebook.
Here are a few designs I have done so far:

All my fall ones are original designs by me. Fashion design is one of my favorite part of painting girls, and is something I considered as a career, though I stink at sewing.  Gladly design clothes for a company who doesn't need me to sew pieces myself, though! 

My Halloween pieces is modeled after Lydia Deets' wedding dress in Beetlejuice, which is one of the greatest movies EVAR!

I should be doing several more in the next week or so.  I am also working on another project that I shall talk about eventually.

DA Contests

I am a member of Deviant Art.  As of late, I have actually been looking at the contests that are offered there.
Most recently there is this contest that I will be entering sponsored by Eve Online.
I entered a contest last month for Resident Evil (which can be viewed here - though I must warn it is a bit gory). Seems I didn't win, but these are great practice for me to do things that are not my normal subjects.
Always great to widen one's horizons... and put yourself in the running for prizes. ;)

The beautiful and wonderful injunmuffin.  This picture stunned me with its softness and sweetness when I saw it and so I decided I had to paint it- in part because it is her boyfriend's birthday, and in part because she has been really emotionally supportive of me and I appreciate the heck outta her.  I give you:

Aarti's Paarti

I watch the Next Food Network Star every season.  This time, I am smitten with Aarti.  I not only want to learn to cook more Indian cuisine, but OMG, how cute is she!? And so, since I broke the seal with my painting yesterday, I continue on this burst of creativity with a portrait of Ms. Paarti-pants:

Outta Gas!

About every three months I visit Washington, which is two states over from mine.  This time, as I was getting ready to drive back to Montana, there was a problem with my bank account (namely my loving love spending more money than should have been spent) and it took a big chunk out of my gas money for coming home.
My friend, Vez, going above and beyond, sent me gas money (and enough for a tasty lunch). I told her I couldn't pay her back any time soon, and was met with "paint me a pretty picture."  So this is what I painted for my beautiful knight in shining armor:

And no, this is not me.   It is my PT. Cruiser, Eunice.  Really, it is not me though. But of course, it is modeled after styles representative of me .  I, however, have no adorable beauty mark by my lip. ;)

Caspa

One of the cutest youtubers of the atheist crowd, ScouseCaspaXS. I painted her previously and then she got a new camera and I could tell that she had blue eyes, so I had to paint her again.  This one came out much better.

For a bunny.

This is a gift for my friend (and muse) Muffin Von Chub.
Her bunny is sick and she was talking about her eventual departure to the "great garden in the sky."
It was so sweet that I really wanted to paint it as best I could.  The style is fairly different than my normal style but I was trying for more illustrative, like a Golden Book.  I had to wrestle my program a bit to get where I did but I wish to try a few more paintings this way because I like the general idea.
